Wow. I didn't think they'd be doing the GTO in right hand drive.

It’s not quite as tactile as the C but comes with a stack of extra gear. The seat bolsters even press against you around corners based on steering angle and corners G's, feels weird at first but bloody cool.

Its 7 speed auto is the second Merc that’s got rid of the torque converter and now uses a clutch so you now have launch control with 4000rpm starts. The down side is that it’s a little clunky on down changes as you approach traffic lights.

All up it’s a lovely car that’s pretty tough, the build quality is fantastic and has far more room in it over the C. I would have no problems driving it daily.

Simon,

I've saved you the trouble, here are some pics and videos of a 599 and a 612 I tested at a Dyno Install in Indonesia recently. Both cars had less than 1000klm's on them and were from a used car dealer, cars were for sale from bad World Cup Soccer bets gone wrong!

Hi Todd we have run up both the 599 HGTE and std 599 so it will be good to see the difference with the GTO. What did that one make

The 599 GTB made a best of 453RWHP, this was on a 30 plus deg day, and I'm not aware of how old or good the fuel was in them. It definitely looked like it pulled some timing on a couple of the runs.
I think these are supposed to be 612HP at the crank.

I've also dynod a 430 over in Indonesia and it made a terrible 285RWHP, couldn't get a cooling fan anywhere near the rear of the car, this was rated at over 500 at the crank apparently. Either Ferrari lie or they suffer from terrible heat soak issues.
